D.A.F.S. Seniority List Available

With OIT announcing there will probably be personnell reductions, the $500,000,000.00 budget gap in Maine and departments scrambling to save everything except staff, I have been asked a number of questions about seniority.

Do not take the following as gospel! Check with your Union rep and get an official answer! This is only my interpretation.

Look up your Unit/Division first, then look up yourself and your job title. Your seniority rights only apply within that group. If I am right it means that you may be a member of a group with fifty of the same job class, you can have the seniority State wide, but if you are in an area with no other similar titles, you can lose your job before someone else hired the day before. You would still have bumping rights State wide to vacancies, but if the Governors orders are followed there will be no vacancies available.

This is a personal opinion! This is not official. Do not take my word or anyone’s until you have checked with your Union rep.

The DAFS seniority list is available to any registered member of this blog. The list is supposed to be posted on bulletin boards, but is often missing. If you would like me to send you a copy of the seniority list, enter your email below this post, register for the blog and send me an email at NarsBars@UnionMaine.Org with DAFS Seniority list in the header. I will send you the list in a PDF.
